I've been skating on Vermilion and Johnson's Lakes this week. Now the snow is covering the ice it might be time to move on to cross country skiing.


This is my brain on wild ice. Bubbles, only bubbles.

Opening to the season. Still fall with skiff of snow today and ice to slip on. Studio taking shape. A longing satisfied. Numerous of them, all in 30 hours. Don't you just love it when a longing is met. The option to turn 180 degrees and never look back is nigh. can I? stay tuned...

I am home from Lardeau. I stayed one week longer than planned to be there when the peonies bloomed. And when they did I couldn't leave for a few more days. I was under the peony spell and smell and, well that says it all.

High time for a few words. March came in like a lion and then rapidly morphed into a lamb. Baaaaa!
i am writing these days, journal entries on a computer. Daily and every other daily sometimes. I am reading too. The Book Thief. Afterimage. Creative Illustration Workshop. And i started a painting yesterday. visual emotion. Charlie, Lily, this home, winter, a leaf, sunshine and snow all part of it. I'll post it one day but for now it is alive. cannot be committed to media. and today was fulfilling. dog walking, reading, xc skiing out Healy, yoga, a nourishing dinner and now this. i'll end it now, short and savoury.

I am now ready to enter winter. As if I have any say in it. Cross country skiing is soon to be my favourite sport.

I am falling. Into another body. One that feels more and judges less. One that is equal. One that awakens and requests dreams be remembered. One that writes more. One that designs.
I am vulnerable this year. Can I accept this? That is the one question that I will work with over the coming winter. and I don't know the answer...

false spring and other oddities

It seems the time for reflection.
It seems time for wandering on hillsides usually deep with isothermic snow and instead now bare. Sage on a south-facing slope greening at its tips, and a young bald eagle circling, circling, soaring.
Mares tails promising a change in weather and maybe that means snow. We are due. Many weeks without and the ski trails iced and treacherous. The threat of drought high and mighty. My love of storms unrequited this year.
It seems time for whatever integrates and fulfills and articulating what possibly that might be. The fever of a new season is upon us early while last falls leaves are brittle and brown on the branches. A skin to shed still clinging. Unrequited release.
and How? what are the signs? A dream of a runaway car becoming a suitcase?

Fusion of the Found Artist Statement

Laundry and lunch influence my work. I live in my studio. Artifacts, found objects, journals and drawings leave just enough room for a bed and a bathtub. Sifting through my collection of materials I notice patterns: flowers; seeds; beads. Each give me a lead. I follow. Imagination sparked by hours alone in wind or in rain. I dream. Days reduced to wire, paint and placement. Each intricate sculpture bonds like metal shaving to a magnet. Excitement and doubt sleep with me. Awakening, I notice new patterns. I sew metaphors with my old black Singer.
